I was watching this video on the music industry with Chris Blackwell being asked questions in a college forum. In case you don't know, Chris Blackwell
is a huge name in the music industry. I 'm not gonna list out all the stuff he's done, you can look it up if you like. Most notably, he's the
reason you have ever heard of Bob Marley. Regardless, he's talking about how to get noticed as an artist and he tells a story about an artist. They
finally tell you the name and it's Howie. It gives you some perspective on what happened when he got signed.

I'm a musician as well and study a lot on the industry. (I'm planning my attack for when I hit the road in a few years) Howie probably would've
been better if he just taken the road of keeping all his rights and doing it himself like Ani Difranco and Dispatch. (Dispatch fell apart for a similar reason)
Of course, he might've been treading hard even still now and would probably be less known (maybe not), but it sucks he had to be an example. Of course,
that's not his fault, he was one of the first guys to do what he did...sort of like DMB, but by himself, so now we can all learn from what he dealt with.
Even I think I have strong character, but that's tough in front of 2 million. And they don't tell you the fine print until after you recieve the money
and have signed the dotted line.
