Howie was definitely on his game last night, I thought. He sounded really, really good vocally, and his guitar work was awesome too. Not too much crowd
interaction except for a few offbeat comments every now and then, but the crowd was kind of interesting, for some reason. They were veeery quiet in between
songs, which for some reason just threw me off. There were a lot of new songs which I was happy to hear. No Longer What You Require was one of them, and it was
definitely a hightlight of the set- its a slow and almost depressing song, but it's gorgeous and his vocals were incredible. Can't wait to hear it on
CD (which he mentioned, but didn't say when it was coming out). Also, Longest Night has gone through some changes and almost sounds like a completely
different song at some points, but is still very good. I do think I prefer the version he played back in February though.
Anyways, here is what he actually played, in order:
Sorry So Sorry
She Says
Brace Yourself
Ghost/Beams of Light(there was NO crowd reaction to the change to Beams, which was so odd)
Longest Night
Perfect Time of Day
No Longer What You Require
Stay This Way (another new one)
Bunnies
Collide
Counting On Me (new one)
Numbness For Sound
Madrigals, with looped outro (really great to see the outro again, sounded great)
I did get one of the setlists (I think it was his managers? Whoever it was was wicked nice and we chatted for a little bit. Thanks again, haha!) Be There, Sunday Morning Song, and Sound the Alarm were supposed to be in an encore after Madrigals. I guess Howie was feeling under the weather though, so he must of had to cut it short for that, or because they were running about 20 minutes behind schedule. Either way I'm real glad Shawn got me in because it was really great to see Howie back in top form.
