lots of comments, way too tired. all in all it was a great show. howie's voice was definitely on, sound was really good from where i was sitting. batteries in my digital camera went dead right as matt n. came on, so i was a little dissappointed by that.
lost concentration numerous times due to the assholes crowd surfing. being 1st row is awesome unless you have to pass people to the security guards. anyways, i'll try to force the setlist out: New intro -almost thought it sounded like a new song -Brace Yourself - les on piano -She Says - les on piano -Secret -You and a Promise -Collide -Sunday Morning Song - HD trying to see how many times he can say "fuckin" in the song -Perfect Time of Day - might have possibly been the best version i have seen to date. absolutely rocked. -Numbness for Sound - awesome outro -This Time Around - great to hear again...has definitely become on of my favorites. -Morning After i think it was in that order. howie wasn't so talkative, but there was a ton of energy onstage tonite. lots of laughing b/w HD and the band. Jay Clifford from JLC joined the guys onstage tonite...definitely added great background vocals and got to hear les on piano more than usual. not sure whether that is a new thing, but i definitely think it should continue. Matt Nathanson absolutely rocked the house. I was impressed by Michael Tolcher and Ordinary Peoples. wasn't too impressed with Zox. didn't stay for OAR...way too tired. hope it went well. brett |

i think that's close to the right setlist... though i'm pretty sure This Time Around was before Perfect Time of Day. i'm listening to my recording, only up to Secret so far though.
pretty standard band show, but Howie was definitely rocking it and having fun so it was all good. it was great to see Les on the keys through most of the set too. i wasn't too impressed with the idiot near me who set his sandal on fire during Collide (i think) but thankfully the security guys got it put out quickly. You & a Promise went on forever... the Numbness outro started out awesome but then got slow and went another minute too long IMHO. but i was really tired at that point so don't listen to me. it was a totally fabulous lineup though, we made it there in time to see Tolcher and he was incredible, and we were really surprised by the talents of a guy called Toothpick (i LOVED him, lol). Ingram Hill totally rocked and were incredibly hott, and i have a renewed love and respect for Matt Nathanson and i'm kicking myself for not trying harder to see the two of them in pittsburgh a few weeks ago. love love love matty n. and i didn't get to hear most of Virginia Coalition's set because a guy was hitting on me for the first time in my life. what a trip! lol |

matt nathanson with a band=best thing EVER
outro to Numbness was the sickest thing ive ever heard in my entire life, holy screaming. OAR fans suck ass and started a little O-A-R chant during the middle of one of howies songs but the fans quickly heard it and started cheering to over power their stupidity. way to go howie fans, and way to go howie, jeremy, les, laurie, and JAY! This was another great show by Howie, and I was very impressed with Nathanson and the band. I have only seen him open for Howie in Columbus and didnt remember him being that talkative with the crowd. But again the crowd surfers have to go. Im sure most of the Howie fans there werent crowd surfing, but I guess it gave the OAR fans something to do. I am really not sure why anyone would crowd surf to Collide after Howie said it was the make out song, but oh well! The OAR fans should have been locked in a cage in the back where they belong until the show was over. Other than the OAR fans it was a great concert!

Hi this is Soley, too lazy to log in on my own name...
Anyhow, last night was probably the worst Howie show I've ever been to. I don't know if it was the fact that [at least where we were] the Howie fans were more obnoxious than the OAR fans. Numbness was probably the highlight for me, but I'm beginning to feel like I've seen the same show a bazillion times. Jay totally made it worth it, we kept screaming for him like fools Matt w/a band is so much fun! I love him so!!! :P) |

OAR was good. Check out pages 67-74 of the "Hold the Date" thread on www.oarfans.com for some reviews.
VACO rocked as usual too. |

This was the most incredible version of Numbness I've ever heard. It seriously took my breath away.
Otherwise, I was too filled with pure unadulterated hate for the rest of the crowd around me to concentrate too much on the setlist. PToD seemed to be particularly rocking, but I was being crushed by a steady flow of crowd surfers throughout it, so I can't say for sure. If I may paraphrase the ever quotable Matt Nathanson, I hope they all eat some bad shellfish and excrete nothing but water for the next week.. I liked several of the other bands who played there too -- I bought Toothpick's CD there and I'm ordering Ingram Hill's right now. They were really good. I will have some pics from all five of the shows we went to after I've had some more sleep. ETA- Most of my roadtrip pics are up now here. |

Kristin,
I just wanted to say I throughly enjoyed reading your recap from the shows. From the Canadian Dairy Queen, to the hilarity of THE BUS (kerry/edwards, baby!) and everything in between. Les's shoes remind me of slippers that Ozzy Osbourne wore on "The Osbournes". Ahhh, love that Les. Your commentary actually made the phone photos take on a funnier aspect - dontcha' love when photos come out kinda sucky yet create the occasional unexpected "godlike glow" shot? - nicole |

Thanks, Nicole! You should really come with next time, we could get you detained in a foreign country too, I'm sure of it.
ETA- You reminded me of something I totally forgot -- at the in store in Louisville, he was making up some little nonsense song before they got started, and part of it was "we wear sunglasses inside .... because we can ... but maybe we can't...?". It was pretty funny, or self-aware at least. Haha. |

Kristin,
Thats funny - thanks for the backstory on the sunglasses. I was thinking, "Howie, dude yer inside now, take 'em off" He's such a tool. ps - Yes, I may take you up on that offer one day! Last time i was in canada (on our way to tremblant) we stopped after we got past the border for some foodies - noticed some freaky shit...they sell deer antler chips, |

thanks guys! We had fun and it was fun to write about it too. I'll be sure to let you both know about the next one. It will be worth traveling for
And I found Canadian DQ to be tastier -- maybe it was just the trouble I went through to get it though. LOL. |

Hello all,
I was going through my old recording a few months ago and came across this and noticed no one else that recorded had upped their recording to the archive. Here is my recording from the night. I didn't know this site was here, but stumbled upon it looking for upcoming concerts of artists I like.
